How we define a topic

• You are expected to write a concise topic proposal (template here https://sharelatex.tum.de/read/dqvptwhtvkrg#4d5b52, ≤ 3 pages) once we reached to an agreement.
• We will start with a month-long preliminary exploration to ensure a good fit. Only after this period will we proceed with formal registration. (typically starting on the 1st or 15th of a month)

Thesis Writing

• We will use AI and plagiarism detection services to ensure your submission is academically ethical and compliant. Human confirmed misconduct will lead to thesis failure. It’s extremely critical to make sure your report is honest and academically compliant.
• Writing:
  • Subject (I or We?) can vary according to the academic context. Try to use passive tense or use "we" as a fallback.
  • Avoid excessive whitespace in your thesis; treat every page as if it costs €100. Focus on information density rather than expanding the page count with non-essential content.
  • Keep your figure and charts style consistent along the whole thesis.
  • Disclose the use of AI tools if they are used to largely rephrase paragraphs or draft text. You do not need to disclose the use of AI for writing code or correcting minor typos and grammar errors.

Presentation

After handing in your thesis, you need to give a presentation of your thesis, as part of your thesis exam.

• This presentation is usually hybrid. In principle, you should attend the final presentation on site when you are not sick. Please do inform me beforehand if this is not the case.

• Presentation usually consists of a 20 mins talk and 10 mins QA from the audience.
